The book features  information about 11 different emergency vehicles including ambulances, police cars, water bombers, helicopters and, of course, fire trucks all hard at work in very Australian emergency situations, along with the safety message of calling Triple Zero in an emergency.

The Children’s Book Council of Australia has said this book is bound to be a hit with picture book readers in a wide age range, from 18 months  – 6 years and has described Emergency Emergency as a ‘must have’ for Australian children’s libraries. It was shortlisted in the 2022 Educational Publishing Awards and was a 2023 CBCA Notable Book.

Pure Profile conducted a national survey of  2000 people from every state and territory, which found that only 14% of  those surveyed were very confident that the children they know who are aged between 3 and 6 would know to get help in an emergency by  calling triple-0. This translates to around one million children in that  age group who need to learn the triple-0 number. The  Pure Profile survey also found that 90% of parents and non-parents alike  agreed it was highly to very valuable for Australian parents to have a  picture book that teaches children how to respond to an emergency such  as by dialling triple-0.
