The good news is that The Yass Book Store has a new owner!
The bad news is that Jodie needs a space to put the shop.
We have been looking for the perfect space for the bookshop for months with no luck. Prices are getting higher and shops change hands without notice, so it's hard to find out what is available. It will be such a shame to lose our small interesting shops that employ and are used by locals, as well as attract tourists and visitors, to services and tobaconnists.
Fingers crossed she finds a new shop and can set up ready for the busy Christmas period.
The new shop in The Liberty Theatre
The space in The Liberty Theatre is currently being transformed into TAL Organics. It is going to look great!!
Pop in when it opens in a week or 2. Our kid's (and potentially some adult books) will remain in this space until Jodie can reestablish The Yass Book Store in it's own space.
Website
The Yass Book Store website is still active - with new releases, including the new Dervla McTiernan book available online.
Silverborn the 4th in the Nevermoor series is out this week!
The website also has loads of sale stock. Most of the sale books are $10.
Events
Jodie and I are currently working on holding an author event in Yass with Margaret Hickey - author of Cutters End, Stone Town and Broken Bay.
Margaret's new book An Ill Wind is out in June and she is touring to promote it in July.
My news
Our house in Yass hasn't sold yet so I am still around and will be handing over the business to Jodie over the next month or 2. I may also do a shift or 2 in the new TAL Organics shop.
Our granddaughter Lucia arrived this week, so I have been minding her brother Gianni - what a joy!! They and other life changes, are the reason I am moving on from the bookshop :-)
I will also be focusing on Paper Parrot and Wordthread so will be busy.
Stay warm
Jo xx
